🛒 How to Book Your Gear Online
Booking your ski or snowboard gear is quick and easy! Just follow these steps:

You can collect your gear the day before your rental starts (between 2 PM and 5 PM) at no extra charge.
👉 If you select a pick-up time after 2 PM, our system will not charge you for that day. (minimum 1 day charge applies)Select your return date and time.

Once payment is accepted, you’ll receive a confirmation and invoice via email Changes and Cancellations
Changes and cancellations after this process are only accepted when you respond to the booking confirmation. This is to verify your identity. We cannot take cancellations or changes to the bookings over the phone or by general email.
You have the flexibility to cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the scheduled collection time. In such cases, we will process a refund for you, deducting a 5% booking fee. Simply reply to this email during our business hours with your cancellation instructions.
For cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled collection time, we will provide a refund after deducting the charge for the first day.
Please note that this policy applies only to bookings longer than one day.
Should you need to make changes to the reservation date, you can do so free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled collection time, subject to availability. Please note that we cannot guarantee availability for alternative dates.
How to Book an Early Pickup Online:
If you want to ski or snowboard as early as possible in the morning:
Book your pickup online for any time between 2 PM and 5 PM on the day prior.
The booking system will automatically ensure you are not charged for an extra day.
This will automatically calculate a 1 day charge.
Pickups after 2 PM are free of charge for that day. However, please note that the minimum hire period is one full day, even if the equipment is returned the same day.
Chain Requirement
During the snow season, diamond-pattern snow chains are legally required to be carried on all alpine roads in Victoria.

To ensure the best experience for customers hiring snow equipment, snow chains can currently be pre-booked only when included with an adult ski, snowboard, or snow play hire booking.

During peak weekends, chain stock is limited and demand can be very high. Reserving chains for equipment hire customers helps us maintain availability and minimise wait times for everyone.
🚗 For safety, snow chains must still be matched to your vehicle and tyre size in person at pickup. Not all vehicles are suitable for chains, and availability of specific chain sizes cannot be guaranteed.
Here’s what you need to know:
✅ Vehicle Compatibility Required
Not all vehicles can safely use snow chains. Some newer cars—especially those with low clearance, wide tyres, or certain drivetrains—may not have enough space around the wheels or may be unsuitable for chains altogether.
✅ In-Person Check at Pickup
To help keep you and your vehicle safe, we may check things like tyre size, clearance, and your vehicle’s manual when you collect your gear. If we believe snow chains are unsuitable or unsafe for your vehicle, we may choose not to supply them.
👉 In that case, we’ll adjust your hire accordingly and refund the cost of the chains (minus a 5% booking fee).
✅ Legal Requirement in Victoria
Chains are legally required to be carried on Victorian alpine roads during snow season, even if you have a 4WD. If your vehicle cannot take chains, we strongly advise against driving to the snow.
⚠️ Important: Single-sided chains (required on some models of Range Rover, Volvo and others) are not acceptable on Victorian alpine roads. Only diamond-pattern chains that fit correctly are permitted.
📌 Tip: Check your vehicle’s handbook or ask your manufacturer if snow chains are allowed before you travel.

Our hire rates cover normal wear and tear. But if gear is lost, broken, or damaged due to misuse or negligence, we’ll need to charge the replacement cost. This helps us keep our prices low and our gear in great condition for everyone.

Please check your car owners manual regarding the suitability of fitting chains to your vehicle tyres before leaving home. Discount Ski Hire maintains the right to deny supply of any vehicle chains it deems unsafe or unsuitable.

Purchase a Lift Pass to access and enjoy the ski area.
Take lessons to ride safely and in control.
The ski area is for the enjoyment of skiers and snowboarders. Walking on the ski area is dangerous and to be avoided.

There’s usually plenty of parking right outside the shops. If it’s full, you’ll also find ample parking along Centre Road, directly opposite.
